Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. AMPC, AMP and PMPC designation holders must complete a minimum of 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) each year.

The annual requirement consists of:

  • 8 CEUs in the Professional Development category.
  • 4 CEUs in the Compulsory category.

Included within the annual 12 CEUs is the required designation renewal course, which is worth between 1 and 3 CEUs depending on the year's content.

CEUs may be earned through courses or seminars offered by Mortgage Professionals Canada or by other approved industry providers. MPC reviews third-party education on a case-by-case basis to determine eligible CE credit.

Designation holders must also complete the annual MPC renewal education course to maintain their designation.

Existing AMP designation holders may continue to use the AMP designation provided they complete the annual renewal requirements.

To maintain the AMP designation, you must:

  • Complete the required annual Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
  • Complete the annual MPC renewal education course.

The AMPC designation cannot be used in place of the AMP because the education program and examination process are different.

However, the AMP will continue to be recognized as an official MPC designation for member pricing on MPC events and education.

Existing AMP holders do not need to complete the AMPC designation before registering for the PMPC. An equivalency will be granted, providing an exemption from the AMPC program.

We encourage all AMP designation holders to pursue the new designation programs.

Existing AMP holders are not required to complete the AMPC before registering for the PMPC.

AMP designation holders receive an equivalency and exemption from the AMPC designation and may register directly in the PMPC designation program.

You will have access to the online course materials for up to 24 months.

AMPC examinations are integrated directly into the online learning platform and may be written at any time after completing each course.

PMPC examinations are offered on demand and can be scheduled at a time that is convenient for you.

MPC strongly recommends attempting your examination within one year of registration to allow sufficient time for a rewrite if needed.

There is currently no fixed annual renewal date.

Students receive their designation after successfully completing the examination with a score of 75% or higher.

The required renewal course is updated and released annually to help designation holders remain current with industry knowledge and best practices.

Once the renewal course becomes available, students will be notified and given sufficient time to complete it.

The designation programs are currently offered exclusively online in a self-study format, allowing students to complete the course materials at their own pace.

AMPC examinations are integrated into the online learning platform and may be completed after each individual course has been finished.

PMPC examinations are delivered online on demand and are completed under the supervision of a live online proctor.

AMPC Designation
Registration is $549 and includes online course materials and two attempts at the final examination.

If you are unsuccessful after your included attempts, you must re-enrol in the applicable AMPC course and pay the applicable registration fee before attempting the examination again.

PMPC Designation
Registration is $549 and includes online course materials and one examination attempt.

If you are unsuccessful, the second and third examination attempts are $195 each.

AMP Annual Renewal
The previous AMP renewal fee has been eliminated. Instead, students are required to register for the mandatory MPC renewal course, which was introduced at $95 beginning with the 2022 calendar year.

No. The designation programs are designed for all mortgage industry professionals.

MPC believes that a broader understanding of the mortgage industry benefits everyone. For example, lender underwriters gain valuable insight by understanding the broker's role, while brokers and agents become stronger professionals by understanding the underwriting process.

The curriculum provides industry perspectives that are relevant to participants from across the mortgage industry.

Email your course completion certificate along with your AMF licence number to [email protected] .

Mortgage Professionals Canada will report your Professional Development Units (PDUs) directly to the AMF on your behalf.
